This is a help page to assist with a common question we get around Steam workshop files not updating and some solutions for resolving the problem.
Company of Heroes 2 – Modding Hub Refresh
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 5-50 mins
It is best practice to do the following steps before proceeding, however they are not required.
- Ensure that Steam is running the most up to date version.
- Verify Company of Heroes 2 game files (especially valuable after a COH2 Update).
- Unsubscribe from unwanted Workshop Content (see step 5 below).
- The “nuclear” variation on the below is to navigate to the following file path and delete everything contained within.
- \Documents\my games\company of heroes 2\mods
This is by far the simplest solution to getting your files to update, it is all contained within the Company of Heroes 2 Modding Hub.
Step 1: Open Company of Heroes 2.
Step 2: Navigate to the Modding Hub
Step 3: Click the “manage” tab
Step 4: Click the refresh icon at the top right
Step 5: Wait – this can take from between 5 and 50 minutes, a lot of it will depend on the amount of modding hub content you are currently subscribed to and your connection.
Step 6: Verify that the content that was not updating is now updated.
If this does not work, try one of the following options.

Time: 20-30 Minutes
If Wikinger files are not updating then follow the link to the repository of files held on moddb.com

Once downloaded the files need to be moved or copied to the following locations

- OKW skin pack: 865427033.sga
- US skin pack: 867207137.sga
- Wehr skin pack: 674801581.sga

Third Party Workshop Download
Difficulty: High (high complexity)
Time: 30-40 minutes
This method follows all of the same steps as the Moddb method for installing the files, the difference is in how the files are retrieved and managed. There is a lot more room for error in this method and it is only recommended in situations where the user is capable in file management.
Step 1: Find the Workshop item you require and copy the URL.
Step 2: Head to Steam Workshop Downloader
Step 3: Download the file and rename it using the 9 digit number at the end of the URL that was copied in step one.
Step 4: Once downloaded the files need to be moved or copied to the following locations
Wikinger: European Theater of War – C:\Users\”your user”\Documents\my games\company of heroes 2\mods\tuning\subscriptions
Wikinger: Win Condition Pack – C:\Users\”your user”\Documents\my games\company of heroes 2\mods\gamemode\subscriptions
Wikinger Skin Packs – C:\Users\”your user”\Documents\my games\company of heroes 2\mods\skins\subscriptions
Ensure that you are doing this methodically as any errors will likely cause errors or duplicates in your workshop files. Resulting in having to go with the nuclear option noted in option one.
