  • in reply to: Medics/Medic Station Upgrade Suggestion #4000

Attaching a medic doesnt funcitonally sound much different from the existing medical supplies upgrade almost all units have.

I personally use the medic a lot on urban maps, because if there is no supression it is much easier to pull out units whenever you want to a truck+medic combo to have them healed (and reinforced) on the field. On non urban maps supression can often prevent such luxuries unless fire superiority can still be achieved(which, in pvp, isn’t by definition the majority of cases).

The medic is however immensely useful on urban maps or on any forward defense. I do however agree that the AI has no clue how to use them and just runs them into battle.

Very much a niche unit but not an useless one, imho.

I’ve been sick, I will revise this guide 10/07 in regards to layout, others things, etc. So if you spot something tell me on discord now.

    Oh, and before I forget:

Tankhunters are good against enemy tanks especially if you can get them behind them, it is just that they tend to be overshadowed by most of the tanks and the panzerfausts that I forgot to mention them, but that doesn’t mean they are useless!

Wunderwaffe is one of my favourite if not my favourite doctrine. I wouldn’t at all say it is useless, you just have to use its abilities right and remember that artillery is best countered by not putting too much value in one closely-knit spot. It is a very agressive doctrine with very agressive units that are very strong when used agressively. It has infantry good for fast assaults and abusing weak points in the enemy’s defense and tanks good for a slow moving armour wall.

To help with playing it, I made this long rambly guide to all the units presented: https://wikingeretow.com/wikingerforum/topic/wunderwaffe-guide/

Conscripts do have it with the ap grenade, yes, which I believe is in because the plan is to make bazookas more scarce, forcing russians to rely on other tactics to beat tanks.

Sorry to doublepost. Heavy air support should be kept and perhaps expanded upon as much as possible, like Sean suggested.

In regards to what I said earlier, a SU-76 call-in or some-such would make sense, since Shock Armies made frequent use of self-propelled guns for the purposes of dislodging enemy positions. Actually, perhaps the ISU-152 would make more sense as a Shock Army Unit, although this may go against balance or fit in better elsewhere or it might leave the KV-2 without a place to go.

An assault tank call in ability would actually make sense, because shock armies made more use of assault tanks, but perhaps the KV-2 already fills this niche.

Also any abilities relating to conscript spam could make sense, as shock armies were the place where soviet deep tactics with human waves were more common, or at least, a rush ability like “for mother Russia” should be kept.

Munitions to manpower is currently one of the strongest and most notable features of this doctrine as a whole, as it is what allows you to go to mad levels Stug/grenadier spam at the expense of munitions. I am not making a value judgement here, just pointing something out.
