A destroyed Sturmgeschutz smolders along the road leading from Neuville-au-Plain to Sainte-Mère-Église. Private John E. Atchley, H Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, was credited with destroying the assault gun with a 57mm anti tank gun.
