1 last Soviet doctrine remains and i thought i’d point certain things out that are still missing from the soviet doctrines (unless I’ve completely missed them) either partially or completely.
NKVD units
10th NKVD Rifle Division
Vanilla representation :
In the Vanilla version of CoH you can find several hints to the NKVD’s existence such as the Disruption Commander :Historical Background :
Besides being border guards or gendarmeries…they also took part in heavy millitary conflicts and fought alongside the red army soldiers.
There were numerous NKVD divisions, one of the more important ones were the 10th NKVD Rifle Division with several thousand men strength and they took part in the Battle of Stalingrad and allegedly served with distinction.
Commander : Alexander Andreyevich Sarayev
These divisions were sometimes also motorized such as the 22nd Motor Rifle Division NKVD.
Portraits :
There are some good portraits that could be used as base for the modified/corrected versions that could potentially be added into the mod. In the following image, the cap could be recolored a bit.
For reference :
Border Guards :
An important part of the NKVD and they could also come with a unique portrait:
They allegedly formed the core of the division at Stalingrad from many different parts of the Soviet Union such as Ural and Siberian regions.
Mod Representation :
Call in :
Could function as a call in to help at a dangerous situation. They would arrive as 1-2 motorized units with an NKVD Officer in charge such as Pyotr Nikiforovich Kuznetsov similarly to the Estonian call in Iron Will.
Buildable :
With some limits (1-2) they could be trained in Tier2 for example with a seperate NKVD Officer call-in accompanied by NKVD troops.
Doctrines:
I’m not sure what will the last soviet doctrine revolve around and therefore i cannot say whether they would fit in there.
I imagine the infantry doctrine could be a good alternative.
They wouldn’t necessarily have to be integrated into only 1 doctrine ofc.
Abilities:
If i understood correctly, they performed various operations, i could related them to the Schwarze Katzen from SS artillery, but not the same:
- Enemy recon prevention,
- Sabotage,
- Possibly some motivational ability by using it on 1 nearby friendly unit thus giving it extra traits for a short time (no retreat, increased offensive, reduced defensive capabilities etc.)
They would definitely not be as elite as lets say…the Hübner unit from Luftwaffe, but more fanatically capable of holding the ground and not retreating etc.
Soviet Officer AbilityNow, this is not related to NKVD units only ofc…rather to other Red Army Officers.
I wanted to briefly talk about the Officer inspirational ability which is OK as it is, but i’m still missing the iconic not one step back (order 227) theme. It might be included with the last doctrine…i dont know. This extended ability would work within at least 5times or so the area the current Officer charge works and would prevent retreat or work something like that. Here is the ability (it might be outdated) from the propaganda doctrine from CoH1 : EF mod :
- Not one step back! – Makes all Troops in the sector immobile, but Higher health.
What do you think?
As always, thanks for reading:)
