Hey! In this post i’d like to further elaborate my views on certain portraits.
Großdeutschland Panzerfüsiliers:
I’ve already mentioned these, but i thought I’d include them here too anyway. These guys seemingly use a winter uniform portrait even during summer maps.
Wehrmacht Officers :
I like the portraits, but i was thinking if it wouldn’t feel more complete if they were carefully modified in such a way as that their eagles on their caps (see below) would be more visible. Unfortunately, i can’t upload the in-game portrait now for the Wehrmacht, but i guess u know what i mean.
Waffen-SS Officers :
I know many portraits are being updated already, but the same thing can be said here aswell namely that the eagles on the officers’ caps can’t be seen.
Notice how the eagles are actually different especially at the end of their wings.
Here is an example from in-game, the corrected Hansen portrait (updated) :
Furthermore, for the sake of variety, i had an idea what if we created a similar looking, but ultimately different portrait for lets say, the Verbrannte Erde doctrine officer (not Hansen, i mean the ordinarly Obersturmfuhrer) with something similar outlook as the officer guy on the left in this iconic picture:
In that case, the collar patches are not visible (by the looks of it), only his Knight’s Cross. His stat (for now) would remain unchanged, only his portrait would be different.
I’d also not reject the idea of letting Hansen’s portrait be like that, not as if that mattered too much anyway just so that there is some variety.
Note: The same could be done in the case of Wehrmacht officers, after all there are more doctrines for them.
Vehicle Crew:
The vehicle crews’ portrait seem (to me) identical throughout all the doctrines.
My notes regarding them:
I’ve noticed they are wearing the iron cross around their neck. Correct me if i’m wrong, but iron crosses 1st/2nd classes were not worn around the neck, but the Knight’s Crosses and the even rarer Grand Crosses were and I doubt they would be wearing them in this case so the iron cross may not fit them i believe.
I propose 2 different portraits to the vehicle crews:
- Wehrmacht panzer crews taking consideration their collar patches(similarly to the already used ones) and their cap. Like these:
If possible, with the eagle and the badge/icon/circle (?) visible aswell on their caps.- Waffen-SS panzer crews like these:
Their collar patches would be quite low SS-Mann (blank right collar patch – top picture) or Sturmmann (2 white stripes) with ofc the cap. If needed, they could be blurred a bit just as u did with other pictures.
Their accessories such as for the radio operators could also be included (like the vehicle crew’s portrait right now) especially if it doesn’t wrap the cap insignias.
Ofc, these changes will probably require creating unique units, but it is these small details that might also improve the variety and quality.
What is your opinion?
Thanks for taking the time to read.
