Hello,
New to Wiking, really excited to play. Back in the day I played a lot of BK mod for CoH1, so glad to see something similar exists for CoH2.
One question – do you need the OKW/USA/UK DLC to play Wiking? On steam it says required DLC but I don’t see any mention here.

Hi @Aydin welcome to the Wikinger forum, you can play without them but you won’t have access to those factions in game.
We’re really happy to have you here and hopefully you find the site and forum to be a resource for a new player. Down the bottom there are the various ways to connect with our community as a whole so hopefully you can jump in and make some connections and get some games on too.

Hi and welcome aboard 😉 . About your question, you dont need them all, but you will enjoy more the mod with all factions. In this very moment Okw (SS) and AEF(US) are the only factions with 16 abilities tech tree.

Welcome!
While you technically don’t need the other DLC’s to play Wikinger, I would recommend keeping an eye out for when they go on sale as they are a great addition to the game. Also OKW and the US are the first two factions that we are reworking with our new non linear tech tree so definitely worth the purchase imho 🙂

Welcome there!
If you liked Bk Mod for CoH1 then Wikinger is indeed the most appropriate choice for CoH2 🙂 -

@Olhausen, how do you access the tech trees? I played a sample game as the PE and as the Wehrmacht, but didn’t see any fancy tech trees beyond selecting one option at your core HQ. I believe I am missing something because as the PE I couldn’t even make Panzer IVs.
@MeatShield – I definitely agree, I’m happy to have all the DLC. One of my cousins (who’s new) only has the base game and was unsure about investing in the DLC but was pumped for the mod.

Hi Aydin, yes it looks like you are missing the Wikinger Win Condition Pack that is required to see the exclusive tech trees.
Here is a link to the steam page, just subscribe to it the same as the Tuning pack:
https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=536957797
Then in game setup make sure you select it from your list of Win Conditions, heres a handy guide:
Then once you are in game you should then be able to access the tech tree, here is what it should look like:
This will make a huge difference to your gameplay experience. All doctrines have a basic tech tree but the best ones to try are the reworked 16 ability non linear tech trees, below is a list of the 5 doctrines that are complete so far:
US Armor
US Airborne
OKW SS Panzer Division- Wunderwaffe
OKW SS Panzer Artillerie Regiment – Verbrannte Erde
OKW Fallschirmjager Division – Luftwaffe
Let me know if you run into any problems or have any questions, we are happy to help.
Regards
