Right now, noboody gets rangers. or atleast, most people dont. maybe they get the ranger AT squad cause they can camo, get a WP nade, and get a nade assault, so they can do anti inf ambushes. but their typically not as capable, or as versatile, as just riflemen spam with WP rifle nades. Part of it is because their a dedicated CQB squad in a game where LMGs are usually dominant, and CQB squads need special stuff or unique buffs too do good. rangers do, but its a massive ammount of investment. 2cp for a supression breaking sprint, 2cp (i think) for a grenade assault, 3cp for ur ranger commander unlock, 3 more for the real good assualt squad which is 90% why u go for rangers in the first place, atleast, in filling a base niche of infantry too combat other inf and push. but enough of me complaining, how about i say, howd id fix it?
personally, id do a couple tweaks. first of all, thompsons aint gonna cut it. the ranger assault squad should start with 3 shotguns, have upgrades for 2 more ,replacing carbines or garand or whatever, and a bazooka, thats always wielded, unholsterable (youll see why later). the other ranger squads could get a couple shotguns too, probably 2 for the ranger command squad, and 1 for the demo and AT squad, by default, with no upgrades for any more. they should also all come with 1 bazooka, by default, unholsterable, with demo getting their bazooka by defualt instead of an upgrade. The reason for this, is gonna be the epic ability that makes rangers worth going for: the WP bazooka rocket ability! basically, an WP nade, that detonates on impact, instant travel time, and with low wind up, letting rangers be the elite assault troops they were IRL. germans have something similar already, the blendkorpfer has very similar effects too the WP nade but it detonates on impact, and i think it throws faster aswell. so it wouldnt necesarilly be too far fetched from what the germans already have. this is why i say, they need an unholsterable bazooka, so its fitting with the bazooka WP rocket ability. and every squad that had the WP nade ability previously, gets the WP rocket ability instead. its still a massive ammount of CP too get tho, 7 for the WP unlock, and 6 for the ranger assault squad too wield it, so i think it would be balanced. too prevent WP spam, the riflemen themselves should also be nerfed, getting normal riflenades instead, or maybe the 60mm mortar round improvised too fire from the riflenade adaptor, availably by default and replacing their standard rifle nade, that basically functions identical but detonates on impact instead of with timer. too bring em up too scratch with german squads with their impact rifle nades.
besides that, rangers could also get their “Rangers lead the way” by default, and instead medal of valor has them start with 1-2 vet by default. and assault vests could also give a T-13 beano nade too normal riflemen, replacing their standard pineapple, basically just an impact frag. since the xylophone also stems from the ranger line, maybe buffing it could be a help, imo all i think it needs is too fire its rockets faster and have em arrive faster, or have the sound effect for the rockets firing play later so they dont have as much warning beforehand. i almost always see enemy inf survive if they retreat as soon as they hear the xylophone fire, since it has a large wait time before the rockets hit and when they start hitting its a p low fire rate.
