If you’ve read the title then you know why people are here. Have you had frustrations making progress against an enemy with your elite fallsrimjager then suddenly….WHAM you hit a wall in your offensive with the enemy making a defensive line of MG bunkers, AT guns, and trenchlines for their infantry.
So, as luftwaffe you think to yourself if I get panthers, surely I’ll be able to breakthrough. Then you come to the sad realization when you get your precious 2 panther call-in you are hit with a 17-pounder that completely destroys one of your panthers. So you think to yourself again, maybe if I get a couple of mortars will I breakthrough? But then you realize after 10 minutes of pure bombardment the enemy gets tired of you tickling their emplacements and just push you with their tank horde or whatever allied heavy tank. So, whats the point of this small rant? That it is simply impossible to push a fortified position with Luftwaffe. As an infantry doctrine luftwaffe is extremely powerful in its early game, with its fusiler’s regiment 6 etc. However, luftwaffe in its late game is just flat out lacking against players that turtle a position and just hold out until they get enough resources to actually push out from their location.
Thus, why I am suggesting a new ability for luftwaffe, a bombing run. A high altitude bombing run would give time for the enemy to dodge with its infantry units, so it wouldn’t be difficult to see it coming so long as you pay attention to the minimap that is. I’d suggest 3-4 250kg bombs be dropped in a line similar to how the walking stuka is used in vanilla with its creeping barrage ability. I believe this would give luftwaffe a small buff against turtling enemies in the mid-late game. The luftwaffe arado strike is great for cutting off points, but it doesnt do much in terms of actual breakthrough. I’d suggest the bombing run cost high in munitions, simply because it would do massive damage to kill emplacements maybe 450-500. With luftwaffe munitions drop I don’t think pricing it high would be too much of a problem to begin with.
So in closing, this change doesn’t need to be immediate just something to be talked over, Luftwaffe could get a stuka call in as well, but stuka has trouble with targeting certain positions making it somewhat not worth using at times. Even if luftwaffe gets a basic nebelwerfer barrage it would benefit the doctrine. Or even if their leigs get fire rounds for dealing with emplacements. Just something for this doctrine is needed for late game breakthrough.

Would work fairly well as an alternative to making the Arado freely targetable, and would definitively help with getting through ‘hard’ defenses like tranches and whatnot which Luftwaffes current arsenal really cannot do at the moment. I believe Eisen is thinking something along the lines of a toned down He 111 strike from Spearhead if you would like to see an example, it works fairly well while still being something you can quite easily get out of the way of with softer squishy units. Its purpose is for destroying defenses.

I totally agree that luft could use some extra breakthrough firepower. 3-4 250kg bombs for 450-500 muni might be less potent and less usable then just 1 250kg bomb for 200-180 munitions. its rare as an infantry doc that you will get 450-500 munitions saved up, and its a truly staggering ammount. considering that, sometimes a single 250kg bomb well placed can take out or heavily damage 2 emplacements that are close together, it should be just as good, while still leaving muni you need for infantry upgrades. just making the base arado already in luft freely targettable should be good enough, imo. but i do agree that luft could get a little bit extra too make it up too scratch.

This seems disturbingly close to the arado coming back into the mod. Now if you want trench clearing, then perhaps we should discuss the buffed Leig? 2 Leig’s might be enough to allow luft to slowly force players out of such positions. I have tested it myself against the american pak 43, and it was annihilated almost immediately. It got buffed vs buildings, with less spread and more damage.
However: luft reinforcement costs are incredibly high. Perhaps they could be lowered to allow an easier transition o the leig? Anyway, I would say the new leig buff be tested before implementing a change of this magnitude.
Also, what if upon unlocking the rocket strafe, you stuka strafe was upgraded to have autocannons?
